Torments: 28 Optional Extra-Hard Challenges

What they are

Torments are the game’s post-completion difficulty layer. The studio’s own description, from the 1.0 announcement:

Torments are finally making their debut! These fully optional, extra-difficult challenges aren’t connected to the achievement system and don’t offer anything except bragging rights (you don’t need them to 100% the game!). You can view these challenges in the Hall of Torments tab of the Achievements interface. If you find the base game’s challenges too easy, give these a go… but be warned - there will be pain and struggle!

Three things are unusually clear here, and all three are worth taking at face value:

  • They are not achievements. They will not appear in your Steam achievement list, and they are not among the 229 achievements this game has.
  • They give you nothing. No items, no unlocks, no Specialization Points.
  • They do not block completion. If you are chasing 100%, you can ignore all 28.

Version 1.0 added 28 of them.

Where to find them

The Hall of Torments tab, inside the Achievements interface. It is easy to miss — it sits alongside the achievement list rather than in its own menu, which is part of why so few guides mention Torments at all.

Survivor Crossing was impossible at launch

The one Torment anyone can name, for the wrong reason. Patch 1.0.0c, on 26 August 2026, includes:

Fix for the maximum total amount of Team Bond (Friendship), which made “Survivor Crossing” torment unobtainable (maximum value is 250).

So for the first six days of 1.0, a Torment tied to Team Bond could not be completed at all, because the underlying stat had no working maximum. If you tried it during launch week and it refused to register, that was the bug, not you. It requires build 1.0.0c or later.

This is also where the number 250 comes from — it is the Team Bond cap, established by the same fix.

Should you bother?

Only if you have run out of game. The honest sequencing is: finish the main storyline, work through the restriction achievements — the no-abilities and no-upgrade runs are the real skill test — and then look at the Hall of Torments if you still want more.

The studio has published no list of the 28 Torments and no individual conditions, and this page will not fabricate one. Open the tab in your own game: it is the only complete reference that exists.
