Steam Deck: Verified Since 2025, and How It Runs

Verified, and since when

Yet Another Zombie Survivors is Steam Deck Verified. The studio announced it in a dedicated post on 27 November 2025, titled “The excellent Yet Another Zombie Survivors is finally Steam Deck Verified.” The word “finally” is doing real work there — the studio had listed “Steam Deck support improvements / verification” on its roadmap since at least March 2025, so this was a deliberate, worked-for rating rather than something granted at launch.

Verified is the highest of Valve’s four tiers, and it means all four criteria pass: full controller support, readable text at Deck resolution, correct default configuration, and no compatibility warnings.

Interest in this spiked again at the 1.0 launch — “steam deck” is one of the fastest-rising searches for the game right now, most likely because the 1.0 release brought back lapsed players who had bought a Deck in the meantime.

What supports the rating

From the Steam store page for app 2163330:

  • Full controller support, plus explicit DualShock and DualSense support
  • Steam Cloud saves, so a Deck session continues on desktop
  • The game is Windows-only on PC, so Deck play runs through Proton — which Verified confirms works

The genre helps: this is a game where your survivors aim and fire on their own, so the control surface is movement plus menus. There is no aiming precision to lose on a thumbstick.

Settings worth knowing about

The store page lists an unusually deep accessibility set, several items of which are relevant on a handheld screen:

  • Camera Comfort and Colour Alternatives
  • Custom Volume Controls and Adjustable Difficulty
  • Keyboard Only and Mouse Only options
  • Playable without Timed Input

Two more from patch notes that matter specifically on Deck:

  • Daylight Mode, an accessibility setting added during Early Access, “switches the game’s night setting to a cloudy afternoon” — the game is played at night by default, and this is the fix if it is too dark on a handheld in daylight.
  • Patch 1.0.0b removed the 60 FPS cap on gameplay interfaces, and 1.0.0c added an FPS Counter under Options → Interface if you want to check what you are actually getting.

Save handling

Steam Cloud is supported, and per-device settings were added during Early Access specifically so settings do not follow you between machines — you can run different graphics options on Deck and desktop against the same save. There is also a separate, non-cloud save for in-game settings.

One caution: the studio had a Steam Deck Verified and Cloud Save issue post in November 2025, and patch 1.0.0c restored the ability to delete or reset the first save profile. If you are juggling profiles across two devices, make sure you are on 1.0.0c or later.

Consoles

If you were looking at Deck because you want handheld play, note that the Nintendo Switch version announced for “soon after” the 20 August launch still has no date — see platform status for what shipped and what did not.
