What Ranger is for

Ranger is the only survivor the studio describes as buffing everyone else. From the 1.0 announcement: she ‘shines further with her ability to boost all Survivors’ Critical and Luck stats, as well as ways to heal her allies.’ Combined with the 1.0 change that gives every survivor a passive node buffing the whole team just for being present, that makes her the strongest single addition to almost any squad — and the reason she tops the tier list despite being a support. She is also the game’s ninth survivor, and the 1.0 changelog’s addition list ends with a one-word bullet: ‘Dogs.‘

Ranks

Every survivor has five ranks, the fifth added in version 1.0 along with two new synergy nodes, two passive improvement nodes, and one passive node that buffs the whole team whenever Ranger is in the squad. Ranks 2 through 5 each have an achievement:

The Survival Level each rank requires has never been published by the studio, and is not guessed at here.

Personal mission chain

Ranger asks for five missions, each its own achievement, and unlocks repeatable quests afterwards. Every one raises Team Bond, the squad-wide bonus to Cash and Specialization Points.

Seeding → Germination → Sprouting → Sapling → Flowering

Her mission chain is a plant growing from seed to flower, and her leader achievement is called Of Birbs And Puppers, which tells you most of what you need to know about her.

Patch history worth knowing

Patch 1.0.0b reduced the frequency of Good Boy and Falcon ability sound effects — a fair indication of how often they fire.
